Ali Zaidi
Indian by birth, Pakistani by migration, and now British by choice, the cultural paradoxes and hybridity contribute creatively to Ali Zaidi’s speculation around issues of identity and representation.

He engages diverse art forms like film, theater, live art, installation, site-specific design and digital technologies and creates fresh participatory experiences for a wide range of audiences.

Zaidi’s passion for photography remains resolute for the oscillation it offers between fact and fiction.

His work maps personal experiences in a language, which both comes from and responds to the times.  Recent projects using new technology tools include Fresh Masaala, an installation presented at Warwick Arts Centre and Reality Bytes commissioned by the Now Festival, Nottingham.  Zaidi also directed The Seed and the Root, a series of site-specific installations in Brick Lane in London’s East End.  Other works include Adrift, a spectacle for the opening of Barrow Museum as part of Visual Arts UK, Un Pu Plu De Lumiere for LIFT, for Queer Up North, and Dreamworks, a LWT Talent Challenge performance and installation in collaboration with Almieda Theatre.
