Choreographer Brian Brooks is a 2013 Guggenheim fellow. His dance group, the Brian Brooks Moving Company, has been performing since 2002 throughout the US and in South Korea, Canada, and Germany. At its home base in New York, the company has been presented by Lincoln Center Out of Doors, the 92nd St Y Harkness Dance Foundation, Symphony Space, and Dance Theater Workshop, among others. The group enjoyed two consecutive seasons at the Joyce Theater in 2011 and 2012, and was presented as part of Focus Dance in 2013. Brooks was the recent recipient of a NY City Center Fellowship, a Jerome Robbins New Essential Works Grant, and a National Dance Project Production and Residency Grant. He has been commissioned to create new works in 2013 for the Juilliard School and the Vail International Dance Festival. Brooks’ most recent collaboration is a duet with New York City Ballet principal dancer Wendy Whelan in her touring project Restless Creature.
