Suzanne Bocanegra lives and works in New York. Her recent work involves large-scale performance and installation, frequently translating two-dimensional information, images, and ideas from the past into three-dimensional scenarios for staging, movement, ballet, and music. She is a recipient of the Rome Prize and her work has shown at the Serpentine Gallery and the Hayward Gallery in London, the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles, Pittsburgh’s Carnegie Museum, and Houston’s Museum of Fine Arts. In 2011, a retrospective of her work began at the Tang Museum at Skidmore College and traveled to SITE Sante Fe.
