“… como el musguito en la piedra, ay si, si, si …”
(Like moss on a stone)
A piece by Pina Bausch
Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch
With her passing in 2009, legendary dance-theater pioneer Pina
Bausch (the subject of Wim Wenders' Academy Award-nominated film
tribute earlier this year) left behind an indelible legacy. This
fall, Bausch's company returns to BAM—its exclusive New York
home—to present a very special engagement of the choreographer's
final work, a singular artistic achievement that resonates with its
maker's keen observation and profound grace.
Set to the contemplative sounds of Chilean folk legend Violeta
Parra and guitarist Victor Jara, como el musguito conjures
Chile's social dances, distinctive musical tradition, and bustling
capital metropolis, while emanating a calm, reflective beauty.
Directed and choreographed by Pina Bausch
Set design by Peter Pabst
Costume design by Marion Cito
Musical collaborators Matthias Burkert and Andreas
Eisenschneider
Premiere June 12, 2009, Wuppertal
