Always on a quest for new forms and featuring an extraordinary repertory of work by some of the world’s most forward-thinking choreographers, New York-based company Cedar Lake Contemporary Ballet celebrates a decade with a BAM debut. Showcasing a remarkable versatility—and a virtuosity that’s grounded in ballet, but far more expansive in style—Cedar Lake’s 16 incredible dancers perform the company’s commissioned pieces over the course of four evenings.

Cedar Lake performs Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui’s much-buzzed-about work Orbo Novo, channeling shifting textures and a profound humanity, with live accompaniment by the Mosaic String Quartet.

The company performs Violet Kid, a dark, primal piece by Hofesh Shechter; Alexander Ekman’s stunningly rhythmic Tuplet; and Jo Strømgren’s theatrical romp Necessity, Again.

Cedar Lake’s final evening comprises performances of Crystal Pite’s stark, breathtaking work Grace Engine, Alexander Ekman’s stunningly rhythmic Tuplet; and Jo Strømgren’s theatrical romp Necessity, Again.

This New York-based company is recognized for its exceptionally talented dancers.
