Part of Education

Brooklyn Reads consists of ten in-school workshops held from February through May, and culminates with a student performance at BAM and the publication of an anthology of selected student poems. We are accepting classes and teachers who will be active partners in implementing this program.

Workshops are led by BAM teaching artists who specialize and perform professionally in the spoken word arena. Through writing, analysis of published works, attending live performances and performing themselves, students develop their analytic, writing, and presentation skills and gain confidence through self-expression.

Special needs classes are also urged to apply.
