Brooklyn Reads

Feb 1—May 1, 2014

Through analyzing poetry and creating their own works students gain confidence and strengthen their literacy and presentation skills.

Part of Education

Created exclusively for Brooklyn high schools, this spoken-word program is designed to build literacy through creative writing, analysis of spoken-word poetry, and individual performance. BAM teaching artists, professionals in the world of spoken word, guide students toward a culminating performance of their original work and the publication of a poetry anthology.

Special needs classes are encouraged to apply. Space is limited.

Only Brooklyn high schools may apply. Schools will be notified of their acceptance by December 18, 2013.
