Directed by Stanley Nelson

In-school screening and workshop

From May until December 1961, more than 400 black and white Americans risked their lives—many enduring savage beatings and imprisonment—for simply traveling together on buses through the Deep South, in violation of Jim Crow laws. Through interviews with historians, activists, and the riders themselves, Stanley Nelson captures the horrors of racism and celebrates the humanity of struggle.

Fee includes in-class workshop with a BAM Teaching Artist and study guide. Screenings are free and take place in your class through PBS. Please email education@bam.org with any questions.
