(Note: No workshops on Apr 22 and 24. Additional workshops the week of May 12.)
Arts & Justice encourages high school students to examine creatively and critically the multiple dimensions of crime and its repercussions in the justice system. The program is designed to help students develop their artistic, decision-making, and critical-thinking skills through the arts.
Participants have a choice of two tracks taught by Master Teaching Artists:
Theater: Students will explore the fundamentals of theater-making and the justice
system while they participate in improvisational exercises, theater games, writing
exercises, and group discussions.
Visual Arts: Students will be instructed in the fine arts and the creation of visual works for public exhibition as a positive, community-centered outlet.
Students in both tracks will participate in a culminating performance/exhibition in May at BAM.
