Following his recent BAM favorites, A Midsummer Night's Dream and The Winter's Tale, Edward Hall—and his all-male troupe Propeller—brings his highly physical, unabashedly playful style to the Harvey Theater for a three-week repertory engagement of Twelfth Night and The Taming of the Shrew, comedies that exult in the often-bewildering convolutions of romantic love.

Both plays explore how misplaced love can reveal true feelings. Twelfth Night transports us to the delightfully surreal island of Illyria, a place where time and gender are illusory and truth is revealed through deception. We're on equally fantastic footing in The Taming of the Shrew, a provocative, hilarious, yet devastatingly cruel treatise on the complexities of marriage, rife with cross-dressing and shifting identities. Things are certainly not what they seem. Who better to sort it all out, and mix it up delightfully again, than Edward Hall, a director who understands, and indeed celebrates, comedy's inherent splendor.

Approximate running time of The Taming of the Shrew is 2 hours 30 minutes, including a 20 minute intermission.
