BROOKLYN NEXT: SOULIVE
Fri, Feb 15 at 8pm
BAM Howard Gilman Opera House
Running time: Approx 120min with intermission
Brooklyn Next celebrates the innovation and diversity of the music coming out of
the borough with two weekends packed with shows all over Brooklyn. At BAM,
Soulive, Citizen Cope, and The National take center stage, while emerging indierock,
hip-hop, jazz, Afrobeat, and experimental artists from Bed-Stuy to Brighton
Beach take over BAMcafé and clubs around the borough.
Kicking off Brooklyn Next in the Opera House is Soulive—the first new act signed by the legendary
Memphis soul label Stax Records—spinning a groove-based, jam-happy funk
around an organ sound worthy of Booker T, while weaving elements of hip-hop
and Hendrix into the mix. Noble Society opens the night.
