Junk“KAT” & Modiano + austin willacy Fri, May 16 at 9pm
Judging from the sounds she coaxes from her flute, Yael Archer’s lungs must contain the winds of another world, breathing fire into the most unassuming of instruments. Extended techniques like overblowing and multiphonics burn in breathy flits over bass-driven turntable beats and keyboard riffs, resulting in a gritty, 70s-inspired mix of virtuosity and fast-burning funk. Pop-rock vocalist/songwriter austin willacy opens, alone with his guitar.
