Dave Isay, founder of StoryCorps, talks with Weekend Edition Saturday host, Scott Simon. StoryCorps’ mission is to provide people of all backgrounds and beliefs with the opportunity to record, preserve, and share their stories.

Dave Isay is the recipient of numerous broadcasting honors, including six Peabody Awards and a MacArthur Fellowship. Isay is the author and editor of Listening Is an Act of Love, Mom: A Celebration of Mothers from StoryCorps, and All There Is: Love Stories from StoryCorps—all of which grew out of his public radio documentary work, and all of which were New York Times bestsellers. Peabody-Award-winning Scott Simon has reported from all 50 states, five continents, and 10 wars, from El Salvador to Sarajevo to Afghanistan and Iraq. Simon is the author of Home and Away: Memoir of a Fan, Jackie Robinson and the Integration of Baseball, Pretty Birds, and Windy City.
