This riot grrrl coming-of-age / coming-out drama set in a fiery, gritty mid-90s Hell’s Kitchen is“one of the best films about female adolescence ever made” (The Onion A.V. Club). Fifteen-year-old Claude’s (Folland) inseparable friendship with Ellen (Subkoff) unravels as they are both plunged into the hornet’s nest of adolescent sexual discovery and she is torn between her yearning for the increasingly destructive (and straight) Ellen and the open-hearted advances of pink-haired guitarist Lucy. Although built on timeless themes of female friendship and teenage sexual awakening, All Over Me is also a mid-90s cultural time capsule with an awesome soundtrack featuring Ani DiFranco, Sleater-Kinney, Helium, and more.
