Along with Todd Haynes and Gregg Araki, Tom Kalin was at the forefront of the New Queer Cinema, a movement that began in the early 90s and became known for its aesthetically daring, politically charged explorations of sexual identity. In celebration of the 20th anniversary of Kalin’s breakthrough film, Swoon, BAMcinématek presents a special screening of the film followed by a Q&A with the director, as well as a selection of his shorts.
