Part of BAMcinématek series Kid Stuff
Directed by Ingmar Bergman | 1982

With Pernilla Allwin, Bertil Guve, Börje Ahlstedt, Allan Edwall, Ewa Fröling

“a sumptuously produced period piece that is also a rich tapestry of childhood memoirs and moods, fear and fancy...”
—Variety

This self-reflexive film uses Bergman’s childhood as the basis for a story of life and family in turn-of-the-century Sweden. Told through the eyes of a young boy, Fanny and Alexander is both a gripping family drama with touches of magic realism and a rare case of a great artist pulling back the curtain to reveal the backstage workings of his own artistry.

This screening includes a 15 minute intermission at 4:30pm and a 45 minute intermission at 7pm.
