Part of BAMcinématek series Hot Dern!
Directed by Robert Aldrich | 1964

With Bette Davis, Olivia de Havilland, Joseph Cotten, Agnes Moorehead, Cecil Kellaway

“An outrageous exercise in Hollywood necrophilia. It was camp before the term was coined”
—Dave Kehr, The Chicago Reader

Bette Davis goes gloriously over-the-top batty as a haggard Southern belle terrorized by visions of the grisly, long-ago murder of her lover (Bruce Dern), who was hacked to death with a meat cleaver. Director Aldrich and Davis’ follow-up to Whatever Happened to Baby Jane? serves up more deliriously demented Grand Guignol overloaded with creepy swamp water atmosphere, severed limbs, and high camp histrionics.
