Directed by Joss Whedon | 2005

With Nathan Fillion, Gina Torres, Alan Tudyk, Sean Maher, Jewel Staite

“The rough edges and brawny energy of a good yarn, and it was made by and for people who can't get enough of this stuff. You know who you are.”
—Roger Ebert

In this continuation of the short-lived cult TV show Firefly, Captain Mal Reynolds (Nathan Fillion) and his band of outsiders, freaks, and outlaws board the starship Serenity to rescue a sleeper agent/child prodigy (Summer Glau) from the clutches of a fascist government. Described by Whedon as “Stagecoach in space,” Serenity combines the down-home flavor of a horse opera with the assassins and creepy creatures of a space opera. It stands as a shaggy sci-fi masterpiece in its own right as well as an entrée into the world of one of Whedon’s most beloved television series.
