In conjunction with Kate’s Kids and the release of Sing Me The Songs (Nonesuch), a new double-CD tribute album, BAM screens Sing Me The Songs That Say I Love You: A Concert for Kate McGarrigle—an intimately shot musical and cinematic tribute to the great Canadian folk singer—followed by a Q&A with Rufus Wainwright, Martha Wainwright, and other cast members. In this hybrid documentary and concert film directed by Lian Lunson (Leonard Cohen: I’m Your Man), candid interviews with McGarrigle’s family and friends are paired with rousing performances of her music by Rufus and Martha, Anna McGarrigle, Jimmy Fallon, Emmylou Harris, Norah Jones, and others to create a poignant, uplifting portrait of a legend. Opens June 26 at Film Forum.
