Directed by John Badham | 1976

With Billy Dee Williams, James Earl Jones, Richard Pryor

"Genial, slapdash, high-spirited..."
—Vincent Canby, The New York Times

Set during an Indian summer in the Negro League era, this boisterous, offbeat comedy ranks among the best baseball movies ever made. Satchel Paige-inspired pitcher Bingo Long (Williams) seizes the means of production and breaks away from greedy management with W.E.B. Du Bois-reading slugger Leon Carter (Jones). Pryor steals the show as usual as a player practicing his Spanish in the hopes of making it to the white league.

Please note: Due to inclement weather, this screening (originally scheduled for July 15) has been rescheduled to July 29.
