Directed by Jacques Demy | 1967

With Catherine Deneuve, Françoise Dorléac, George Chakiris, Gene Kelly

"A luminous musical about dreams, romance and destiny which lovingly reworks the classic Hollywood 'putting on a show' template into an essay on the emotional rollercoaster ride that is movie-going."
—Time Out London

In this big-budget tribute to the American musical, real-life sisters Catherine Deneuve and Françoise Dorléac (just before her tragic death) play twins who dream of romance and life in the city from their tiny seaside town. Jacques Demy packs his CinemaScope canvas with energetically choreographed dance numbers, eye-popping color, and an irresistible cameo by Gene Kelly, while Michel Legrand contributes the brilliant, jazz-inflected score. New DCP restoration courtesy of Janus Films.
