Directed by Michael Showalter | 2017

With Kumail Nanjiani, Zoe Kazan, Holly Hunter, Ray Romano, Anupam Kher

Comedian and Silicon Valley scene-stealer Kumail Nanjiani co-wrote and stars in this romantic comedy based on his and co-writer Emily V. Gordon’s own story. When sparks fly between struggling Chicago stand-up Kumail (Nanjiani) and grad student Emily (Kazan), their romance initially seems threatened by his traditional Pakistani parents, who want nothing more than for their son to settle down with a nice Muslim girl. But fate throws the young couple a life-or-death curveball and Kumail is forced to do some serious growing up. Working with director Michael Showalter and producers Judd Apatow and Barry Mendel, Nanjiani brings fresh nuance to this cross-cultural love story.
