Formed in 2010 by Colombia natives Juliana Ronderos and guitarist Nicolas Losada, il abanica is a wildly inventive indie band with experimental leanings. Ronderos' pure, unadorned vocal delivery is both the anchor and balm amid a wash of inventive guitar patterns, stilted grooves, and other unconventional touches-all brilliantly captured on their 2011 record, Crossing Colors.
