Founded in 2009 by drummer and composer Andres Jimenez (co-founder of M.A.K.U. SoundSystem), DILEMASTRONAUTA—“The Astronaut’s Dilemma”—is an ambitious project dedicated to adapting the diverse rhythms and musical sensibility of Colombia into more modern, groove-based fare. Made up of reeds, keyboards, vocals, electric bass, and a bevy of percussion, the group comes to BAMcafé Live fresh from recording its latest album, Astronauta en Tierra, a tribute to the folkloric music of Colombia’s beautiful coast.
