Taking their name from the great jazz trumpeter Freddie Hubbard’s touchstone 1965 Blue Note album The Night of the Cookers, this Brooklyn-based outfit excels in hard-bop jazz with a subtle hip-hop influence, melding old-school bebop with contemporary rhythms. They return to BAMcafé, as part of the 14th annual Central Brooklyn Jazz Festival, with a selection of standards and originals that pay tribute to the borough’s rich musical history.
