“Ritualistic rhythms, soaring brass lines… Lockwood's arrangements of Jewish cantorial songs whip up a frenzy wherein all the world's music can do that which music does best: celebrate.”
—The Village Voice

Jewish cantorial music gets a brass-heavy, worldbeat-meets-raucous-rock ’n’ roll spin in the music of the Sway Machinery. The brainchild of Jeremiah Lockwood, grandson of the legendary cantor Jacob Konigsberg, this boundlessly creative quintet blends Jewish musical traditions with Latin jazz and West African influences for a big, bold, jubilant explosion of sound. Fresh from collaborations with Malian luminaries Khaira Arby and Vieux Farka Touré, the Sway Machinery brings its exuberant live show to BAMcafé.

BAMcafé Live Host: Phillip Andry
BAMcafé Live House DJ: DJ Idlemind “The Appropriate Agent”
