SAMUEL H. SCRIPPS BAM SCHOLARSHIP FUND

Part of BAM Education

Teachers, please encourage eligible students to apply!

We are delighted to announce the fifth year of the Samuel H. Scripps BAM Scholarship Fund for postsecondary education. These scholarships exclusively benefit students who have participated in BAM’s arts education programs at some point between kindergarten and 12th grade. Every year, BAM awards two- and four-year scholarships to support students in their pursuit of higher education in dance or theater in the fields of performance, presentation, or arts administration.

This special program honors the memory of former BAM Trustee Samuel Scripps, a world traveler and arts patron who worked in theater and generously supported dance and theater throughout his lifetime.

2012 Scholarship Information
The Samuel H. Scripps scholarship was established to reward students who exemplify the mission and goals of BAM’s education programs. The scholarship helps current and former participants of BAM’s education programs who plan to major in acting, musical theater, directing, dance, choreography, arts administration or design/technical theater to attend an accredited institution of higher education.

All students who apply for the scholarship will be evaluated on their level of participation in BAM education programs, school and community activities, and demonstrated leadership through examination of writing samples, academic transcripts, and letters of recommendation. Application materials will be reviewed by a selection committee comprised of admission and financial aid professionals from colleges and universities in and around New York City who are familiar with BAM’s mission and with the practice of identifying well-rounded students to receive scholarship funding.
The number of awards will vary based upon the number and quality of qualified applicants. Approximately $45,000 in scholarship funding will be awarded.

The Samuel H. Scripps BAM Scholarship is administered by ETS Scholarship & Recognition Programs (SRP), located in Princeton, New Jersey. ETS, an independent, non-profit corporation, is the world’s largest private educational testing and measurement organization, and is known for a commitment to advancing learning and increasing opportunities for students worldwide.
