Screenplay Reading: Hammer and Anvil
Screenwriter Alicia Erian
Sun, Jun 1 at 7pm

Free!

An idealistic American with a checkered past agrees to do the favor of a lifetime for a Salvadoran immigrant, only to face repercussions years later, in Alicia Erian's work-in-progress screenplay Hammer and Anvil.

Offering the audience a rare glimpse inside the creative process of an emerging independent screenwriter, a talented ensemble of actors bring the characters to life for the first time. The audience response provides crucial perspective in the continued development of the screenplay. This reading is part of Sundance Institute's ongoing Screenplay Reading series.

Alicia Erian is the author of the short story collection, The Brutal Language of Love, and the novel Towelhead. The latter has been made into a film by Alan Ball, to be released by Warner Independent later this year. Erian developed her screenplay Hammer and Anvil at Sundance Institute's 2008 January Screenwriters Lab.

The Screenwriters Lab is a central element of the Sundance Institute Feature Film Program which provides year-round support for emerging filmmakers and their projects. Through Screenwriters and Directors Labs, artist grants, and ongoing creative and business support, the program nurtures independent film from script to screen.
