The Brooklyn Literary Mash-Up celebrates the multifarious literary voices of Brooklyn of the past 150 years, mixing excerpts of work by classic writers with that of contemporary voices. Members of the new Brooklyn International Theater Company use music, projected images, spoken word, and movement to bring these glittering words to life. Curated and directed by Brooklyn filmmaker Nelson George, the Brooklyn Literary Mash-Up is a honeyed, cynical, and humorous tribute to Kings County.

Pieces to be performed include:
Nelson George, “Remember Skelly”
Phillip Lopate, “Introduction: Brooklyn Was Mine”
Carl Hancock Rux, “Rich Man, Poor Man”
Robert Sullivan, “A windstorm in Downtown Brooklyn”
Touré, “Falcon Malone Can Fly No Mo”
Stacy Wakefield, “The Sunshine Crust Baking Factory”
Colson Whitehead, “Brooklyn Bridge”
Colson Whitehead, “The All-Night Bodega of Souls”
Walt Whitman, “Crossing Brooklyn Ferry”
