In conjunction with David et Jonathas
Conductor William Christie, along with his ravishing vocal and
instrumental ensemble, Les Arts Florissants, has
near-singlehandedly renewed appreciation of 17th- and 18th-century
French repertoire.
In this talk, moderated by longtime theater critic and current
Vanity Fair columnist John Heilpern, Christie surveys his
considerable career at BAM since his first appearance with
Atys in 1989. The discussion will be interspersed with
harpsichord demonstrations by Christie.

Venerated conductor William Christie returns to Brooklyn with a French Baroque gem fashioned from the roiling dramas of the Old Testament: composer Charpentier’s rarely staged sacred tragedy David et Jonathas.

Prestigious vocal ensemble Le Jardin des Voix joins William Christie and the orchestra of Les Arts Florissants for a concert of music by Jean-Philippe Rameau and other French Baroque selections.
