The thrilling Australian dance company Chunky Move made its US debut at the 2001 Next Wave Festival. Those coming back for more and those discovering the troupe for the first time with Mortal Engine will get a chance to hear how artistic director Gideon Obarzanek, interactive system designer Frieder Weiss, and dancers display such raw creative force and momentous energy. The discussion will be moderated by André Lepecki, professor of performance studies at NYU Tisch School and author of Exhausting Dance: performance and the politics of movement.
