“Go hear Lipsyte read—you’ve probably never heard syntax so artfully skewed, or laughed so hard at someone else’s dread.” —Time Out New York
“…explode[s] like a string of firecrackers—so funny you might lose an eye.” —Vanity Fair (on The Ask)
“…realistic and convulsively hilarious. . . Lipsyte’s razor-sharp eye filets dying America.” —Booklist (on The Ask)
"If you're excited about what you’ve written, and compelled to keep writing, that's a good sign. If what you’ve written scares you, even better. It’s like having a secret lover or a brand new drug habit." —Sam Lipsyte
Called “rowdy, shocking, and lyrical” by The New Yorker and known for his “turbocharged language” (Bookforum) and penchant for black humor, Sam Lipsyte is a critically acclaimed humorist and satirist. He is the author of four books including the novel Home Land (2005), a New York Times Notable Book for 2005 and winner of the Believer Book Award; and most recently The Ask (2010 release), a disturbing yet hilarious novel about the seedy side of fundraising. Lipsyte teaches at Columbia University’s School of the Arts and is a 2008 Guggenheim Fellow.
