“A spectrally beautiful vampire film that’s more than the sum of its chills and estimable technique. Director Alfredson has an elevated sense of visual beauty, but he knows how to deliver the splattery goods.” —The New York Times
A fragile, anxious boy, 12-year old Oskar is regularly bullied by his stronger classmates but never strikes back. The lonely boy’s wish for a friend seems to come true when he meets Eli, who moves in next door. But Eli’s arrival coincides with a series of gruesome deaths and attacks. Though Oskar realizes that she’s a vampire, his friendship with her is stronger than his fear. Swedish filmmaker Tomas Alfredson weaves friendship, rejection, and loyalty into a disturbing, darkly atmospheric, yet unexpectedly tender tableau of adolescence. In Swedish with English subtitles.

The New York Times Review of Let the Right One In
"There is a remarkable stillness to many of the film’s most indelible images, particularly the exteriors, which are so carefully photographed, and without the usual tiresome camera jiggling, as to look almost frozen." More
