Join us for a day of performances, interactive workshops, and showcases of local talent as we celebrate the resilience of community and the power of the arts, which helped sustain us over the last year and now brings us together. Featuring Lucy Kalantari & the Jazz Cats!, Feet of Rhythm Kids, Brooklyn United, and Brown Rice Family, the festivities are emceed by BAM teaching artists Kimani Fowlin and Farai Malianga.


All attending family members who are vaccine eligible (above 12 years of age) who wish to enter the designated audience zone will need to provide proof of vaccination and personal ID. Anyone admitted to the audience zone will be required to wear a mask at all times. Nadia Dieudonné and Feet of Rhythm Kids

Founded by Nadia Dieudonné, Feet of Rhythm Kids (F.O.R. Kids) is a Brooklyn-based Haitian dance company and art organization focused on preserving the rich culture of Haiti through the performing arts. An expert in folkloric Haitian dance, Dieudonné fuses traditional Vodou dance with her unique style.

Guided by a strong belief in the natural flow of things, BRF provides the masses with a distinctively organic world roots music, which encompasses reggae, hip-hop, dancehall, Afrobeat, jazz, rock, Brazilian, Latin, and funk music.

Kimani Fowlin

Kimani Fowlin is dedicated to creating art with a purpose—social justice is at the core of her dance making. Among her many accomplishments, she helped to launch and co-facilitated the series Black Dance Stories; received a Faculty Leadership Award at Drew University for her commitment to civic engagement; and is currently collaborating on a Milwaukee-funded community arts project on race, gender, and parenting.

Farai Malianga

Born and raised in Zimbabwe, Farai Malianga studied African dance and drum with pioneers Yousouf Koumbasa, Mbemba Bangoura, and Ronald K. Brown, and has performed with Chuck Davis, Reginald Yates, Heritage O.P., and many others. He appeared in Darker Faces of the Earth off Broadway and in Fela! on Broadway, scored music for Beatrice Capote’s solo piece “Reyita,” and performed his original drum compositions in The Public’s MERRY WIVES.

Hula Nation founder Isamar Gonzalez brings together hula hooping, hatha yoga, and meditation within interactive workshops on HoopYogini™ dance. Since 2013, Hulu Nation has worked to empower children and families through art and movement workshops, participating in over 300 events and festivals through NYC and around the world.
