The Dallas-born, Netherlands-based singer-songwriter Sandra St. Victor & Oya’s Daughter has recorded with Curtis Mayfield and had her own songs recorded by Prince, Common, Chaka Khan, and Tina Turner. An undeniable performer onstage, St. Victor has logged hours on the road touring alongside such diverse stars as Roy Ayers’ Ubiquity, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Ziggy Marley, Freddie Jackson, and Glenn Jones. She is known and loved as a founding member of the groundbreaking trio the Family Stand, is a trained opera singer, and has been converting fans for the past two decades with her soulful and potent elixir of R&B, rock, gospel, and jazz. Ebony recently touted St. Victor as a “singer who rocks,” alongside Grace Jones and others. St. Victor’s most recent album, Oya’s Daughter, marks her debut on the Shanachie label, solidifying her status as one of the most exhilarating and free-spirited musical forces of her generation.
