The DanceAfrica Community Workshop is canceled due to inclement weather.
Caregivers and children alike deepen their engagement with DanceAfrica in this fun-filled, hands-on workshop with BAM teaching artist Adia Whitaker on the fundamentals of Haitian movement and music.
All ages. Registration is full but walkups are welcome as space allows.

BIO
ADIA TAMAR WHITAKER
The artistic director of Àṣẹ Dance Theatre Collective, Adia Tamar Whitaker performs contemporary dance, vernacular movement, Afro-Haitian, and Haitian dance. She was an Urban Bush Women Apprentice, a Jerome Foundation grantee, and an Isadora Duncan Award recipient. In 2019, she received the prestigious NYSCA/NYFA Artist Fellowship Award in Choreography; completed a residency at the Kennedy Center; and premiered Have K(NO!)w Fear; A Bluessical at ODC Dance Theater in San Francisco. A participant in BAM’s DanceAfrica 2021, she is most proud of her accomplishments as a mother.
