Dance
Max
Batsheva Dance Company
By Ohad Naharin
One of today's most influential and daring choreographers,
Ohad Naharin-last at BAM with the critically acclaimed
Three (2007 Next Wave Festival)-returns with
the exhilarating and sensual new work
Max.
Creating powerful images and emotions, the outstanding
dancers from Israel's Batsheva Dance Company continue to challenge
the body's physical possibilities, as they veer from concentrated
to gorgeously expansive movements. A marvelously skewed solo-all
flying limbs and nerve-rattling balances-melts into a sprawling
ensemble from which a single dancer magically
materializes. Max gathers its
steam through the juxtaposition of bodies in motion and at rest,
alone and together, culminating in an unforgettable, cathartic
portrait of movement at the brink.
