For his BAM debut as classical composer, producer, multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and vocalist Devonté Hynes, best known for his project Blood Orange, brings his vast, genre-defying ambition to our Opera House stage. He will share three experimental works: one performed by the String Orchestra of Brooklyn with pianist Adam Tendler, one performed by the Chicago-based quartet Third Coast Percussion (with whom he released the imaginative, evocative instrumental album Fields, nominated for two 2020 classical Grammy awards), and one performed by Dev himself. Before his largest classical audience to date, Hynes will draw upon his exploration across styles and mediums, evoking a magic only he can create in music for film and television, museum exhibitions, fashion shows, and choirs.
