School-Time Performance: Feathers of Fire: A Persian Epic
Conceived, designed, and directed by Hamid Rahmanian in collaboration with Larry Reed and ShadowLight Productions
CURRICULUM CONNECTIONS: ELA (folk tales), Social Studies, theater
This captivating performance stages the legend of Zaul & Rudabeh, one of the stories in the Persian Shahnameh, the national epic of Iran. Featuring puppets, a storyteller, and shadow casters, this all-ages adventure updates the classic shadow play—a storied cultural form across Asia and the Near East—melding traditional puppeteering techniques with new media. Students are immersed in the cultural traditions of Iran while learning important lessons about courage, loyalty, and the power of determination.
Produced by Fictionville Studio and Nasim Yazdani sponsored by Two Chairs
