Exploring African Dance with Baba Chuck Davis

Educators Only
Sat, Apr 2, 2016

Baba Chuck Davis leads this workshop for educators in engaging classrooms through African dance.

Part of Education

This fun and immersive workshop provides classroom teachers and teaching artists an exclusive opportunity to work with Dr. Baba Chuck Davis, DanceAfrica’s artistic director emeritus and one of the foremost teachers and choreographers of traditional African dance in America. Participants are introduced to various African dance styles and learn to impart certain core values in their students, including respect for African cultures, curiosity, and a sense of pride and accomplishment. In discovering the deep connections between dance and community, language, and tradition, educators are given the basic tools to teach the cultures and customs of Africa and its diaspora through movement and music.

This workshop is intended for educators of all levels. Workshop participants are eligible for free access to the digital resources and video content designed specifically for the classroom, including live workshops with BAM Teaching Artists.
