Tony Award-winning director Julie Taymor’s creative vision offers plentiful feats of visual imagination to surround her production’s compelling emotional core.

Julie Taymor

Julie Taymor is a Tony, Emmy, and Grammy Award-winning director. Her Broadway adaptation of The Lion King debuted in 1997, receiving 11 Tony Award nominations, with Taymor winning for Best Direction and Best Original Costume Design (and becoming the first woman to receive the former). Taymor’s credits also include Grounded, starring Anne Hathaway, at the Public Theater; Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark; The Green Bird; and Juan Darien: A Carnival Mass. She also has numerous opera and film credits. She is currently directing M. Butterfly, starring Clive Owen, on Broadway.
