Directed by Raoul Peck | 2016

Curriculum connections: ELA, History, Civil Rights

In 1979, James Baldwin wrote a letter to his literary agent describing his next project, a revolutionary and personal account of the lives and assassinations of three close friends: Medgar Evers, Malcolm X, and Martin Luther King, Jr. When Baldwin died in 1987, he left behind just 30 pages of this manuscript, entitled Remember This House.

In I Am Not Your Negro, filmmaker Raoul Peck weaves together lyrical rhetoric, rich archival footage, and elements of present-day social movements to envision the book James Baldwin never completed.

Includes pre-film workshop and post-film discussion
