The AfricanDanceBeat program is a 12-session in-school dance residency that puts African dance and music at the center of teaching and learning. Students engage in dance-making and research into African cultures and customs. Each year AfricanDanceBeat focuses on the music and dance of a specific African country from the continent or diaspora, and participating students and teachers attend a matinee performance by BAM’s DanceAfrica visiting company.

AfricanDanceBeat comprises 12 workshops, each 45 minutes long.

Applications accepted on a first come, first served basis. No applications accepted after Nov 1.

AfricanDanceBeat Special Needs
Designed especially for students with special needs, this extended 14-session in-school dance residency puts African dance and music at the center of teaching and learning. Students engage in dance and movement classes and learn about African cultures and customs. Each year AfricanDanceBeat focuses on the music and dance traditions of a specific African country from the continent or diaspora, and participating students and teachers attend a matinee performance by the visiting company for DanceAfrica.
