Oorkaan

CURRICULUM CONNECTIONS: Music (rhythm, pitch), Visual Art, Science (physics, cause and effect)

What shape is the sound of a double bass? What does purple sound like? How do you sing a tree? Using responsive technology and colorful live projections, innovative Dutch company Oorkaan presents a visual concert that poetically and playfully imagines what music might look like if we could see it. Young audiences are transported to an enchanted space where music activates a range of possibilities. Featuring Oorkaan’s original jazz-inflected compositions, including vocals, a double bass, and percussion, Glimpse is full of sensory surprises, offering a multitude of ways for children to connect to music.

Includes pre-show workshop

Major support for school-time performances provided by the Pierre and Tana Matisse Foundation and the David L. Klein, Jr. Foundation.
