In School Residency
BUILD LITERARY SKILLS AND CREATIVE DEVELOPMENT THROUGH SPOKEN WORD POETRY.
Oct 2022—Jun 2023
Word.Sound.Power in the Classroom
Education

GRADES 9—12

High school students hone their writing craft, refine their presentation skills, and analyze poetry in this multi-week residency. Through guided practice with a BAM teaching artist, they create a fun, supportive environment that encourages peer-to-peer critique and deepens their understanding of poetic devices and language.
As students create and perform new works, they develop their individual and collective vision, voice, and power.
There are two ways to bring Word.Sound.Power. to your students!

General Education: This program comprises a full residency of 13 workshops or a mini residency of 6 workshops inclusive of in-class instruction and a reflection, each 45 minutes long.

Special Needs: Developmentally appropriate and responsive to each student’s abilities, this program comprises a full residency of 14 workshops or a mini residency inclusive of in-class instruction and a reflection, each 45 minutes to 1 hour long.
