Directed by Ernst Lubitsch | 1932

With Miriam Hopkins,Kay Francis,Herbert Marshall,Charles Ruggles,Edward Everett Horton

“Tonsils! Positively tonsils!” Dashing thief Gaston Monescu (Marshall) teams up with a pickpocket (Hopkins) in Venice to fleece a wealthy Parisian perfume maven (Kay Francis). But things get tricky when the mark falls for her would-be swindler. The famed “Lubitsch touch” was never more resplendently on display than in this pre-Code paean to sex, sin, and jewels. “Full of suave maneuvers and magical switcheroos; in its light-as-a-feather way, it's perfection” (Pauline Kael).
