According to African legend, the ancient people had a pact with animals and lived together with them in harmony, serving to protect one another. Because of this bond, chiefs could communicate with lions, the king of beasts. Ten-year-old Lionel is African-Swiss and loves to learn about his heritage from his grandfather when he visits him in his native land. When his grandfather passes away, Lionel starts seeing visions of lions everywhere. On a class trip to the zoo, the lion there asks Lionel to help him escape to freedom. It’s dangerous to be near wild animals and Lionel’s mom worries for his safety. How far will he go to maintain his connection to his grandfather and his heritage?
