Directed by Ahmad Abdalla

With Khaled Abol Naga, Menna Shalabi, Yosra El Lozy, Hany Adel

After a long stay in the US, Khaled returns to his native Alexandria and becomes involved in a thriving underground arts scene through a cooperative of young musicians. Shot in a mash-up of styles, Microphone was completed before President Mubarak was ousted but offers a prescient glimpse of the remarkable social unrest that sparked that historical event. Highly radical in the context of contemporary Arabic cinema, this film should not be missed by anyone with even a passing interest in North African affairs.
