“There is naked aggression here.”
—Roger Ebert
Part stand-up, part monologue, part song-and-dance revue, the 1990 adaptation of Sandra Bernhard’s hit one-woman off-Broadway show Without You I’m Nothing, With You I’m Not Much Better spotlights the performer at full throttle, skewering her newfound celebrity while putting on a spectacular show. Mingling stories from her childhood in Flint, MI with striptease and impressions of everyone from Nina Simone to Barbra Streisand, Bernhard’s performance is ripe for rediscovery.
