Directed by Vincente Minnelli | 1976

With Liza Minnelli, Ingrid Bergman, Charles Boyer

Bergman “has a glamour beyond anything she’s had before on screen” (Pauline Kael) as a fading contessa living out her final years in a crumbling Roman hotel. Liza Minnelli is a young chambermaid who becomes enraptured with the older woman’s rich fantasy life. Minnelli’s much-misunderstood, little-seen last film was compromised by producer interference but remains a fascinatingly personal Proustian reflection on time and memory.
